The Treatment Process

Consultation - your journey begins with a consultation with our implant dentist who will assess your oral health, review your medical history, and discuss your goals and expectations for the procedure.

Treatment Plan - based on the evaluation, a customised treatment plan is created. This plan outlines the number of implants needed and any necessary preparatory procedures, such as bone grafts or extractions.

Implant Placement - the next step involves the surgical placement of the dental implant. A small titanium post is inserted into the jawbone, where it acts as a substitute for the natural tooth root. This process is typically performed under local anesthesia, and patients usually experience minimal discomfort.

Osseointegration - over the next few months, the implant fuses with the jawbone in a process called osseointegration. This integration ensures the implant's stability and strength and is the main reason why implants are as strong if not more so, than your natural teeth.

Abutment Placement - once osseointegration is complete, an abutment is attached to the implant. This connector piece serves as the foundation for the final restoration, the dental crown.

Restoration - finally, a custom-made crown, bridge, or denture is attached to the abutment, blending seamlessly with your natural teeth, both in appearance and function.

Implants are extremely versatile

They can be used to replace a single tooth, multiple teeth and even a full arch using a process known as “all on 4”. Here we use four or more implants to secure a fixed bridge of replacement teeth or in a very similar way, anchor dentures for better comfort and stability.

FAQs

Dental implants are an excellent option for most people with good oral and overall health. However, certain medical conditions or lifestyle factors may prevent their use. We will evaluate your specific needs during your consultation and if you are unsuitable for implant treatment, we have a range of alternatives to consider.

With proper care and maintenance, implants can last a lifetime. Regular dental hygiene routines, including brushing, flossing, and professional check-ups, are important for their longevity.

Most patients report minimal discomfort during and after the implant surgery. Local anesthesia is used to numb the treatment area, and any post-operative pain can usually be managed with over-the-counter pain medications.

Dental implant care is similar to natural teeth. Regular brushing and flossing, along with routine dental check-ups, are essential. Avoiding tobacco and maintaining a healthy lifestyle will help to protect your implant investment and extend their life. Our team will explain the full after-care requirements at your consultation.

While the initial cost of dental implants may be higher than alternative treatments like dentures or bridges, their longevity and durability often make them a cost-effective choice in the long run.

Dental implants offer a reliable and aesthetically pleasing solution for individuals seeking to restore their smile and oral function. With the right care and professional guidance, they can provide a lifetime of benefits and renewed confidence in your dental health.

If you are struggling with missing teeth or perhaps loose, uncomfortable dentures, why not consider dental implants?
